Question ATI vs VORTECH

how does an ATI supercharger compare to a Vortech for LT1 ? im thinking about supercharging a 94 lt1 Z. also from what ive read lt1 internals dont like boost and cracked pistons are a common thing. can anyone tell me about this? will i need Forged pistons?

bro I put the same exact post up 2 years ago about my lt1 and boost, and EVERYONE told me that the lt1 ring lands would go..Ran 8psi with a perfect tune for about 5k, got a leakdown test and had a lot of blow by in 2 cylinders..ring lands werent cracked, but the rings couldnt hold the compression. I then built the motor from there..

When going FI, you have to consider the costs of breaking stuff too..and once you feel what its like to boost a v8 you will want more..You should do it right the 1st time, save the hassle, and build a forged motor and then get a procharger or vortech.

My brother's '95 LT1 Formula has had an ATI ProCharger P-1SC since 2002. It has run a 10.91 in the 1/4 on the still stock internals. My brother bought the car new back in '95, and it has 5,800 miles on it. Bob

LT1 or LS1... Pistons were not designed for high cylinder pressure and heat. LT1 has the advantage of iron block and reverse cooling but disadvantage of higher compression. Low boost for now and put a forged motor in the budget for the future. As for supercharger systems, I don't have any experience with either one. I doubt that any blower will disappoint you.
