Default Anybody running a crank trigger on a FAST

I don't know of too many others with a F.A.S.T. standalone on an LS1, but I figure I'd ask here first before calling FAST.

Is there a reason for running an ATI super dampner to mount the crank trigger to? The few standalones I've seen both ran an ATI but I'm thinking about mounting the MSD wheel to the stock 7.5 inch balancer temporarily. I've got a deadline to meet with my car and would rather skimp on the big$$$ balancer for now.

Chris:

Wheel to Wheel put an MSD crank trigger on 1BadLS1's convertible.

Also, PaiN has that setup for a motor + spray car.

FAST is coming out with a plug-in relay for the crank sensor very soon, I will be putting one on my car as soon as it comes out.

What does the relay do... convert the factory crank signal into a 4X?

I've got to have my car running in less than 2 weeks so I'm probably going to key the stock balancer and bolt this MSD 8" wheel to it. I was just wondering if there was a reason for using the ATI balancer other than the obvious harmonics absorbtion.

The FAST crank relay converts the signal to a 4X signal yes.

I have a call into Craig @ FAST to see if they are in production yet. They have two of them out there and they have been on cars for 6-7 weeks I heard.

I have that ATI balancer too, it's SFI and high quality.

I just talked to Craig @ FAST and the FAST crank relay will be available around March 1st so that might not work with your timeline.

Yeah, I've got to be operational by the end of the month, so I'll just use the MSD wheel. The relay sure would be nice right about now though. Cheaper and easier to setup.

Yeah like $100 vs $400 not to mention the work you need to do to true everything up. I never liked all the crap I heard about folk's trigger setups being too close or too far or clipping out etc. but good luck a timeline is a timeline.
