Question problems with turbo set up

Immediately after the QMP turbo was installed on my car it began having problems. It idles very irradictly and constantly stalls until its fully warmed up. I had a compression test done and it was found that 2 of my piston rings were wearing out. I want to replace the rings and pistons anyway but I also heard that this problem could be caused by a vacuum leak in the intake.

Basically if I were to get new lower compression forged pistons and rings and an LS6 intake would this solve my problem or could it be something else. I tried to call Rob but no one was in the office

Also, does anyone know where I can get an LS6 intake for cheaper than $465?

Check the classifieds for the LS6 intake. They usually go for $350 or less.

Check all the silicon hose fittings... ten times. Look for vacuum leaks from the scavanged EGR system. Check all the PCV connections. It's there, you just have to find it. Got a boost gauge? It should read at 22-22 inches vacuum at idle (assuming you don't have a ridiculous cam).

It's a BIG install. I wouldn't be surprised if something small got overlooked.

either that or its running real rich and gas washed those two cylinders,squirt a little oil in the spark plug holes and crank it a few times and take the comp test again

the vacuum on the boost gauge reads from about 20-21 at idle. I didnt install this myself. I talked to the place that did the install and he said he checked many times and said there were no leaks in the egr or any of the hose fittings.

How much abuse did your motor see before this install........my stock motor didn't like 6psi with a 10.6:1 comp......I popped a headgasket and I think it hurt some rings too, I had some NASTY blow by, you could install some breather valves and let the oil drip out onto the headers like I did..............

Now I got a new motor to take the abuse.........

It was tuned by Ed Wright. I talked to the guy who installed it, Ed Wright, and LS1 motorsports and they all pretty much have come to the same conclusion that if I replace the intake manifold and get the new pistons and rings that should solve the problem but they cant garuantee it 100%

Also check to make sure the little rubber o-ring is still on the egr outlet where it connects to the intake mine kept getting sucked into the intake from the high vacume when your under boost and suddenly let off the gas.
