Engine builder Recommendations
yea his package deal seem kinda pricey but if he a builder cant you spec cheaper stufff in your build ? or is his labor rate up there too ?
Ive dealt with most of the builders on here and they been great to deal with very nice guys and a bunch of help. Was wonder if Nelson's is like this or just some one who just builds for rich people
Really, any good race engine builder can do an LSX, there is not that much different about them, a few things, but nothing a competent engine builder can't figure out or stop to take the time research it, that is the key. There is plenty of info out there. Most good shops will know somebody in the trade that has messed around with these engines to get their answers from if they don't know the answer and most the time the vendors they are buying parts from will have alot of the answers as they are the ones who really no what is up with these animals.
Doing a high end deal mail order is just not wise, its best to find someone in your own backyard, JUST IN CASE something goes array they can be there or you can go back to them with ease. The HE said, SHE said deal can bite you, plus you have to trust the Brown Clowns or some freight company to ship your expensive toys.
I have built several of these engines now myself from the crate to the racetrack, first one intimidated me a little (but so did my first MOD motor
), but after sailing it to the 9's the rest of them have been childs play. I do all of my own machining and building, have for years, they really aren't that much different than any other race engine build. Lots of info out there, its like anything else - measure twice and cut once and do the research. Most all the other tricks of the trade apply to these too. If a guy is a thorough builder, his practices will yield the same results on Ford, a Chrysler, an LSx, etc, these are the real talented guys. But, if I had to select some builders that on the the internet alot that do these engines regularly, I would go with KUP and HKE. Attitude and personality rank high on my list for picking someone to do business with.
BTW, post your question on Speedtalk.com. Much, much more knowledge on engine building over there. This forum is owned by sponsors!
