Default On center T-76

I am upgrading my turbo on my Cerra Single turbo. I have a t-62 on-center .96 AR and I want to swap it with an T-76. What is the size difference on the exhaust housing? I want to make sure it will fit. And where is the best place to buy one?

Thanks http://www.photohost.org/gallery/sho...cat=500&page=1

here is a pic

I'd buy it from Rob....he can help you on the sizing also. It would be nice to find a used t76 just to see if it will fit. The ar size also will change the overall size.

Same A/R or larger?

Unless you go up on the A/R, the hot side should be the same size. Even if you do go bigger, the bolt holes don't move. Part of the reason for an on-center housing.

I thought that the exhaust housing would be the same size. I don't have alot of room to play with, see....http://www.photohost.org/gallery/sho...cat=500&page=1

I do plan on laying down the Rad. so I can get more room on the compressor side.

Well, if that's a standard T series compressor housing it shouldn't get any bigger either. You can get a 76 wheel in the same housing.

That's part of the reason i've got normal T series stuff on mine, i can upgrade to 76's in the future and maintain the same packaging. Assuming i don't go to a larger exhaust, but even then i left some room to grow

it looks like it, 4" inlet usually give it away

I say call Turbonetics and ask, they should be able to take that one back and make it a 76 for probably pretty cheap. Hopefully it's a big shaft 62, then then can reuse the bearing housing.

They deal with everything, John's been doing turbos along time for the turbo buick crowd. He did the CHRA's on my Incon's when i had them re-bearing'd. If it's a turbo, they do it

That picture you posted is of my turbo kit which I purchased from jpas. It is a t72 turbo and it BARELY clears the hood now. Jason had to build a new custom manifold to lower the turbo. I do not think it will clear the hood using the stock cerra manifold. PM me if you have any other questions.

i know someone on here with a used T-70 ball bearing centersection that should swap into your housing. could go that way, would get it at a good price and it might fit the effieincy better plus great spool time with the BB

My header is the same as Jason's (First style) I got my single I/C from him. Also I am getting the Halltech Hood that will give 3" uptop. Look at my second PIC. it is the same.

The manifold in the picture is the one that came with the kit from cerra, Jason built a custom one to use which is not pictured. It lowered the turbo position as well as routed the wategate to a the crossover instead of the log to alleviate boost creep that was occuring with the larger turbo. However, you should be ok if you are going with the halltech hood. Just watch out for boost creep when you switch up to the larger sized turbo. Is this going on a stock shortblock? A t76 is pretty big and you would have to boost somewhat high to even get into it's effeciency range, thats fine as long as you have a forged shortblock. I know Rob Raymer did this on a stock bottom end, but our fuel system is a little harder to deal with on teh c5's. I am shooting for 600rwhp and i am going to use a return style rail (97-98) style, racetronix intank pump, KB booster and 57lb injectors. Let me know if you had any questions.

Thanks for the info. Hmmmmmm I gues I am going to call Jason. Thats the first I have heard of him having boost creep. The plan is to do a 382 atleast with the T76.
