It lowers your IAT's and also increases octane rating. It helps and pretty much stops detonation and in tern, your car can be tuned more aggresively

Yes...there are ways around that though. I run a progressive it and it sprays before the IAT sensor. If for some reason you run out of meth the computer will pull timing because it doesnt see the IAT drop. This sould NOT be your failsafe...just an extra measure for "just incase something breaks" I think methanol is some of the best stuff for boosted street cars. Its a simple kit to install as well...Mine is set up so that at 2psi of boost the pump kicks on ..by 5psi its spraying its full potential or 100%

how long does it take to use that gallon up? also which kit would u recommnd me for my car? I know there is a bunch out there.

I have a 1.5 gallon tank and it lasts over a month usually...now thats just highway encounters. It really depends on how much you keep your foot in it lol Look at the cooling mist kit...I really like it and I've had dealings with snow kits and some others and like it most. Meth is usually around $30-33 for a 5gal can. That usually lasts me a couple months and I'm pretty hard on my car. I DD it so I see pesky porches and bmw's daily

With my Alky Control kit I had 5 gal of Meth last me around 4k miles. And don't drive the car much basicly whenever it is out I am beating on it. I would suggest the Alky control kit also over all the others

I have the Alky Contol meth kit... 5 gallon drum lasted me 6 months, and my foot is in it all the time! mine sprays at 4psi... but as long its under that it doesnt spray, and if you run the tank dry and boost, you will damage your motor!

I have the Alky Control Kit aswell and love it. Very easy install and a quality kit. I know the Alky kits have a low level sensor so you won't run out.

Some people add meth to tune more aggressively. They'll add timing to make more power. If you didn't add timing when you first put the kit on you'll be fine. Some guys just use it as a octane booster to be able to run more boost and cool the IAT's. If you didnt tune for it originally you'll be fine if you stop running it.

If you don't change the tune, you won't get any more HP out of it. The benefit will be more octane and lower IATs as already stated. Octane will adds more towards your saftey margin to avoid detonation. Lower IATs will keep you from heat soaking and enable you to run consistantly and mantain the power you already have after each pass/lap. Both are very good things.

Once I get heat soak my power starts going down unitl I cool off.

So yeah you may not get more HP out of it by just adding the kit, but you would have the ability to maintain a higher HP level for a longer period if you are racing a lot at once or the weather is really hot. This is just as good as an increase in HP while racing as you can keep your consistency going.

Question tho, if you tuned for the methanol kit say with a 346ls1 T76 setup, how much more HP could you get out of spraying it? Is there an average increase? Would bigger cubes and bigger turbo have anymore benefit to a kit or would you have to spray more at once? Just curious what the max benefits could be if used to its full potential

You will benift from a tune after adding methanol. Look at it as a supporting mod. Just put the nozzles in front of the iat and you can do quite afew things tune wise.
