1995 Caprice...same thing as a 94-96 Impala SS really.

I REALLLLLLLY want to keep it a stick car. They ALL came with automatics, and I've always always been putting T56's into them even since I bought my first one 10 years ago (this is my 5th)...it's just so much fun to row the gears...and I really only drag race 2 or 3 times a year...but I'm so nervous about blowing transmissions apart, and winding up with a different manual that while strong as hell, wouldn't be synchronized, and wouldn't have the overdrive's the T56 has to keep my MPG in check...and streetability is my biggest concern...I'll drive a faceplated car on the street...I've done it before and enjoyed it thoroughly, but if I can't keep a overdrive and relatively tame rear gears in it, I might as well put a stick of dynamite in it, as I HATE driving a car down the highway at a bazillion RPM.

When you make that run with your truck going through the traps @ 7000 rpm @143 mph, are you in 2wd or 4wd? Was just thinking about this today because a clean high mile reg cab 00' Silverado came my way, perfect for a 6.0 turbo, been wanting to build a sleeper pick-up to eat Z06's with!!!

I try to keep mine under 7000, I need to strap it to the dyno to see how the curve looks.

4X4 the whole 1/4 mile. It's out of gear because I ran it awhile back with the factory 30'' tall street tires vs my 4 28x11.50 et streets and it went 145.68MPH with a really soft launch. I would like to try 2wd with some 30'' tall slicks, and caltrac bars sometime.
