Default Replacing k member with engine in the car

Im needing to go with a tubular K member on my 1996 355 LT1 WS6 to make a single front mount turbo kit work. A tech at the speed shop in town said you can put an iron rod (or use a strut tower brace if you have one) across the strut tower braces and use a chain to keep the engine in place while removing/replacing with the tubular k member.

Has anyone tried doing this before?

I ve done it on my lift. I just used a dead man holder on the engine. If trying it on the ground, it would be tough, but prob not impossible.

I ve heard of using a strut tower brace before, but never needed to.

I've done it before just used a hevy duty angle iron. but it will mess up your paint. Ratchet Straps to lift and lower it

So would it be easier just to disconnect everything and use straps to raise the car and just drop the engine out of the bottom? Could you take the hood off, attach chains to the engine and just hold it there with a cherry picker? It seems it would be easier with the engine still in, but it may be more difficult doing it in my 2 car garage.

When I just had mine out I used 2 jack stands 1 under the trans and 1 under the oil pan with wood blocks on each. Worked just fine for me to swap k members.

I've pulled motors from top and bottom. Both ways have there ups and downs. If your going to replace just your k-member , I would just let the motor sit and pull the k-member from the under it.
