Wont get away with too many passes at those RPMs with stock rod bolts. Congrats though. Post the slip in the fast list.

It probably has at LEAST 75 pulls on this power level on the street, some running up to 170mph. Plus then on my middle boost setting it probably has well over 300 pulls on the street. So far at the 600rwhp setup on several different local motors with stock rod bolts spinning to 6400 or less we've seen no problems with rod bearings when tearing them down. I try to stay off the 6600rpm limiter, but definitely get it on the street when it spins. I do know though it is a stock shortblock so it'll eventually go, but I think the stock rod bolts hold a lot better than a lot of people give credit. I do have the L33 so it has the better rods.

I'll post the slip over there.

Mine let go at 6500 and 15 psi the 2nd time. The smaller piston is likely lighter in the 5.3 and the stroke is a little shorter IIRC which are both helping you survive.

Yeah I'm also on e85 and like Quik always mentioned, KEEP IT COOL. My motor never saw above 160 degree coolant temps all day yesterday!

Also I'm on the STOCK 5.3 HEADS still! The motor just has cam/springs/pushrods/ls9 gakets/arp head studs, still has the stock timing chain, stock oil pump, stock rods bolts. Plus running a stock ls1 intake, stock fuel rails, stock throttle body! I'd love to get an ls6 intake on it to see what it would gain. So far we haven't pushed any coolant either since going to the head studs and ls9 gaskets, including a few 20lb pulls on the street when trying to dial in the boost controller.

I was running a stock longblock. The only thing I changed were the pushrods. I think that the guy that I got the block from changed the springs to the yellow ones but everything else was stock in the motor. The intake was the fibertuned first and then the Fast90 when she let go.

I was running race gas trying to be safe.

Congrats but like josh said, comparing what you ran to what the rest of us have ran at 3300-3400 lbs is a bit different I would say.

Correct and Being a guy that has owned a sbc powered first gen rx7 and also being a guy who has made PLENTY of power with a stock bottom end i can appreciate it, But apples to apples.

Yep I remember meeting you, I wish that race would've got off that night before the cops showed up.

Yeah I know the car is light, but nobody complained when Parish did it in the fairmont. Of course I know it'd run slower if my setup was in a full weight fbody, but I did the rx7 because it was light and cheap. I have less than 10k dollars in my ENTIRE CAR, including the price of the car. Not many can say they run 8's for 10k and it's not like it's a crank it up for one pass, I've been beating the crap out of this car on the street.

Sick. Is the car scaled suspension wise? We 60'd the same off the footbrake, similar boost, but you have 20mph on my ET (2400lb v. 3900lb). If it hasn't been scaled, there is still some serious room to be made there. Car looks like it's there on power, 154 is stooopid.

I put it on some scales I borrowed, it's 56% nose heavy and has a ~140lb difference left/right on the rear tires. It's never been to a chassis shop, the entire car was built in my garage by myself and some friends. It could really benefit from a rear double adjustable shock and some front suspension(stock mazda junk). I'm hoping over the winter/next year to get the chassis setup right along with some newer front suspension, then switch to an lq9/pt88 to see what the car will really do on a stock shortblock setup.

This entire combo(motor/turbo/tranny/converter/etc) is all going in another car this winter to make me a fully loaded daily driver.
