Default D-1SC better than nitrous?

I have a stock bottom end, and stock heads. I run a lunati cam 230/237 .544/.543 at 112 lsa . I'm currently running an NX maf kit around a 150 shot. Running high 10's consistantly. I'm looking to run the D-1SC kit. Is it worth the expense? Will I be able to get about 150 horses out of it on my stock motor with this cam? How much boost can I run (with fuel and tuning upgrades)? Once by bottom end goes out, I'm looking to go forged with the next set up, so would the supercharger be a wise investment for the future? All inputs are welcome. This is a lot of money to spend if I'm not happy going to a supercharger from nitrous. Thanks for your help. Todd

Boost is always better on the long run than NOS. Im sure if u run 8psi u will get 150HP from the D-1SC. The 150HP from the SC is different from the NOS. SC builds boost by RPM so the higher u go the more boost u get, while the NOS gives u instant power when the NOS hits. I would say the NOS will feel faster, but when that bottle pressure goes under 800psi its game over. Ur cam is not good for a SC because it will bleed boost since u have such a huge durations and narrow LSA. Now if ur planning on getting a forged bottom end the SC would be the wise choice because it will allow u to run more boost which means more power. I would stick with the D-1SC and if u dont want to spend alot of money on a cam, just get a stock Z06 cam and it will work like charm with the SC and its cheap too. Good luck.

Dialing in FI is much more complex and expensive than a 150 shot of n20. Be prepared to expiriment and learn some things the hard way.

Provided your bottle is full and at good pressure, you'll be faster in the 1/4 on that 150 shot than you will be with the D-1SC at eight pounds. The 150 horse you'll pick up from the blower is much different than the nitrous. The low-rev torque of nitrous gets that car moving much faster down the track.

I ran nitrous for a year, and now I have the D-1SC. I prefer the blower even if I did give up a little in the 1320. It's just cooler, has more potential (especially for you going forged someday), and I don't have to refill it after a few fun runs. If you are thinking the D-1SC will be faster out of the box, you'll be disappointed. If you are able to see the bigger picture, you'll be glad you got blown...
