Default Could I turbo my LSX Block

Was going N/A but could get a Turbo kit at a good price

the issue is the block is bored to a 4.185 bore already and the crank i have is a 4.10 stroke
haven't ordered the pistons yet, could get the compression down to 9:59:1 if i do a dish piston with a -23cc dish

question is
are the cylinder walls to thin to handle boost?

would like to make around 800 rwhp if i go the turbo route.

Yes you could turbo it but I wouldn't use a 4.100 stroke crank due to the compression height of the piston and it has not been recommended lately to use a 4.1 stroke crank. I really don't like the 4.185 bore too much either but it is still not bad to use. I would sell the crank and get a 4.00 crank and make it a 440 and turbo that.

Ok I was thinking the same thing with the stroke
I got the block used so couldn't do anything about the bore
Just found a kit at a good price and thought it like to make a little more power then just keeping N/A
It's a street car, not going to try to max out the car with power
But think it would be fun with 800-900 hp and tq

Is it a t4 or t6 flange kit? With that many cubes you are going to need a pretty decent exhaust housing and there a are very few big turbos on a t4 flange.

The biggest t4 that is out I can think of is a 91mm I think mightymouse put a thread on here on it. Can't remember the sizes of the exhaust housings available. Give Jose' at Forced Inductions a call or Rob at Modular Turbo a call they can recommend a turbo to keep the back pressure down with a big cube motor like you are building. 800-900 won't be a problem though with those cubes and that big of a turbo.

You need T6 with those CI and minimum 88 if your only looking for 800rwhp or you can go with twin 70+mm

Looking like it will be a rear mount turbo kit. Thinking maybe something in the 88-91mm will be what im looking for.
There is a good amount of room in the back of the GTO.
So will have to do some measuring this week under the back in to see what im working with.

A T4 91mm on a 440, no matter how you cut it, would seem like it would be problematic. I'd imagine backpressure would be unbelieveable

Even located at the rear of the Vehicle?
the dump pipe would be less then 2 feet from the end of the turbo?

IDK. It still seems like an awful small turbo for the ci.

Its the pressure from between the motor and the turbo, not after the turbo.

Lag wouldn't be bad since an 88 or 91 are your choices and you would end up dealing with an on the smaller side exhaust housing for that big of a cube motor. Cam choice would play a role in this too.

You might want to see if you can cut the t4 flange off and put a t6 on or get an adapter. My choice would be the first one. Then you can go with something a lil bit bigger to suit your engine and give you good spool with good top end power.

If you want responsiveness on the street, a front mount turbo(s) would be better. Is there not enough room? I mean, rear mount cars can be very fast, but you're always leaving a little on the table, compared to a front mount.

What transmission are you running??

T6 91mm 454ci will work great even rearmount with the right cam and compresstion I'm sure you can get full boost under 3500rpm..

Here is T6 88mm on Little 383ci with M6 ZO6 I Remember Josh saying the car got full boost at 4000rpm on the street and made sick numbers
