Default 4.8l turbo

So I am taking the 110k 4.8 out of one of our workvans because of the dreaded castech head problem. I got another with 50k to put in it instead. So now im thinking after seeing a turbonetics t60 on craigslist for 300 bucks that maybe I would just check over the bearings in the 4.8 and I already have a cheap set of replacement heads lined up, that I would throw this 4.8 into a small car or truck and throw that craigslist turbo on it if its any good.

So now to the real question. will a t60 be enough for a 4.8? I don't to go crazy with it just some fun, maybe 6psi. how much boost can I run on stock injectors? I just want something cheap and fun. I'm going with the 706 heads again, or would it be better if since I'm getting now heads anyways that I went with 241's? I do have an ls1 intake and injectors if that would make this setup any better? any input helps

thanks guys

The word cheap does not belong in a forced induction setup.
5 pounds on a 4.8 will need more injector than stock. Are you going to build the kit?

yeah I will fab everything as far as piping goes.

it does belong if its just to play around I've got a #'s matching gto to restore lol I don't care if my junk engine fails me in a cheap vehicle.

now if it was going into my chevelle the word cheap wouldn't be involved

but a $300 vehicle with $200total engine $300 turbo plus tubing wastegate bov injectors and tune. for under 1500 bucks ill be able to have some fun and recycle parts after the engine bites it

Well, add another 300 for injectors, 350 for an intercooler, 400 for tuning, and couple hundred more for misc parts.

Don't take me wrong man, just want to make sure you know what you are getting into in the long run.

As far as your specific questions, try and get some 317 heads. They will lower comp and flow better than 5.3 heads.
Ls1 intake will be good if u r putting it in a car. (hood clearance). Ls6 would be better.

Got a procharger kit, injectors, exhaust/headers and tuning... 10-15lbs and it still lives. Runs like a ************ too.

I'm doing a 4.8 build in my 67. 4.8, 6.0 heads, T70 turbo, c6 manifolds flipped. 60lb injectors, twin 255 pumps (for the next motor). Hope to have it done by spring.

You can do it real cheap, you dont need an intercooler for a cheap relatively low power setup. Go for it.

LS6 cam would be fine for your intentions. Pac 1218 or comp 918 springs work well for this level.
