I'm guessing the some factors are weight, the big tire, and wheelie bars. The last two have alot to do with how fast they bring in the boost I would say is a limiting factor.

It was right around 2900 pounds. The Ute is around 2500 pounds and should run faster soon. They just took the original factory heads off this year and switched to All Pro cathedrals with 6 bolts. The first time out it ran a 6, but the crank expired! Sending a CCw crank with new damper this week, should be running again soon.

The Casper deal was between 10-15000 invested to make that run. I built the engine out of spare/used stuff I had except for the heads, rockers and pistons/rings. I borrowed the turbos from my friend Mike, they were 88mm units that had problems on the dyno with surge because they were to big. Harry at Precision re sized them to 80mm with some used parts he had at no cost to help my little project along. I ran the old trans from my racecar, when it kept breaking I borrowed a trans from a friend that we made 5 passes with. I originally drove the car for the first 3 passes, but I was very uncomfortable as I am to tall for the car and my helmet was into the funny car cage causing my vision to blur as soon as the car left. I asked Mike if he could drive the car and he helped us out with that task, and his driving ability helped a ton meeting our goal. We had a good time for not much money invested and learned some things along the way!

the altitude is a minor problem but the air is so dry there it makes up for it. Water doesnt burn. We will actually be adding some fuel on the first couple passes then taking it back out as the weekend progresses.

Oh and we should have our race weight down about 150 pounds for that race too. We are finishing up gutting the doors and installing a new fiberglass nose right now. We will also be taking the wheelie bars off for the race.

Last weds night.....in vegas.....11-10 it was nice....but the track was slow. I went out with the same tune I ran a month a ago.....Last month (dry but warmer) I ran 10.06 @134 easy. I broke a cap and rotor, it was my only pass that night. With the same tune last weds night I ran a 10.42 @130......The da was at 2200 at one point and it was humid. My best for the night (6 passes) was a 10.11 @133.5....

If it drys out, this weekend will probably be the best weather we get all year...temps will prob be 70 in the day maybe.....and 50's in the dark.
