Default Spark plugs/ground straps

Ok so I have a couple questions and I'm wondering if anyone on here does it or knows about it. While I was at SEMA I was speaking to a spark plug company about my setup. The owner recommended cutting the ground strap short and angling it towards the electrode. He said cutting it like that reduces shrouding and lets the spark face fully contact the A/F mixture. He said it also reduces the chance of blowing out the spark. Anyone have any suggestions or experience with this?

Cutting ground straps is an old trick racers started years ago. NGK makes race plugs like that.
