Do yourself a favor and look inside that charge pipe for spatter from the original tacks. You do not want any of that coming off and going through the turbo. Would end the fun right away and could get costly fast.

Nice car and build so far!

I looked the best I could and did some dremel work on the merge end. Guess I'ma be hopin n prayin lol. Oh and radiator clearance is gonna be a ****. Ima have to do some cutting and whatnot on the core support. Anyone know where in an get a smaller but thicker radiator for cheap ?

Also anyone know how much it costs to get is ceramic coated maybe that would help trap some spatter if there is any? Or is there a way to clean it? Thinking bout takin it and pecking around with a hammer to see if anything breaks loose

Maybe try a 2" round wire brush that you can push trough a few times to loosen any junk inside there.?

Give Speedway Motors a try. They have aluminum double pass radiators for $179. They come in different widths. Just look around on there, they have a ton of radiators to choose from and excellent customer service.

Get a flex hone or some people call them dingle berry hones. They come in different diameters and the shaft flexes so you may find one that has a long shank and run it through from every end possible hole. Fastbird that was a good catch on the spatter. I try to think of every possible problem before it happens and didnt even think about that.

After looking at his "tacks" and what they left on the outside I would worry about the inside too.

So hypothetically let's say a piece of spatter does break loose. Would it lock the turbo up or would it just pass thru tithe exhaust

Ever hit a bug at over 100 mph on a motorcycle? Think about going at least 500x faster and that bug being made of metal. One may not kill the turbo but a few will. It's totally worth honing it a few times to get any slag hanging in there out. Cheap insurance for a possible headache or a major failure later.

yeah good thinkin ill c if i can find me a ball hone that small and go to town on it lol. anyone suggest a wastegate? will a 46 mm precision be big enough? i know alot of it has to do with how its plumbed in and im still figuring that one out to.

well looks like my summer project may take a little longer than i thought, ruptured my achilles tendon and gonna be layed up for a couple months.

thanks tsnow. im thinkin about putting a hold on the turbo til after car show season and lsfest. and driving it N/A this season cause with the bills and time im layed up looks like i wont be able to do much anyway. idk yet

Sounds like a great plan. Sometimes it pays to wait anyways. No sense in rushing it since you already have a running driving car.

you can use rocks or shotgun shot or something of the like to knock whatever is in there loose.

I say if you are going to wait anyway, Get the shape you want and take that to a muffler shop and have them bend you one piece per side then you will only need to wory about the merge. Or better yet since you are waiting, go ahead and buy another turbo and dont bother with a merge.
