Supercharger To Turbo
Supercharger To Turbo Well finally after two + years I "Should" be able to fire up my car this coming weekend, and do some tuning. I know there has been a couple of threads on the subject but I never saw where someone actually had a super then converted to a turbo with basically the same components with results. I will know and tell, My setup will be more apples to apples because I did rebuild the entire motor but all is the same but of course different cam, Heads are untouched, pistons are same compression, cu in is the same so it should be a good test. I will see for one, Horsepower and Tq comparison at the same boost level, Daily driving, Street and Track Performance, Well the Track performance will be null cause I never got to run a full pass due to either tranny problems or clutch, but I do have one pass at 11.3 @ 137 MPH so it is at least something to compare to, Will let every one know soon to see if it was really worth the time "MONEY" and effort...Stay Tuned..
i did the swap from a d1sc to a tc78 truck manifold setup and left every thing on the engine exactly the same. same cam and all only changed i made to the setup was i added an intercooler and swapped the gears from 3.73 down to 3.27's
best with the d1sc at 9psi 9.81@137.7
best e.t.so far with the tc78 at about 10psi was 9.95@131.1 blew the intercooler hose off
best mph has been 142.4
car leaves softer now then with the d1sc, putting a trans brake in over the winter to hopefully solve that
