The Spec Stage 3 is a garbage clutch, I had one when I had my 6-speed with a cam only setup and it was properly broke in for 500 miles and I still fried it only making about 370rwhp at the time.........

Wow, that's not good. I am in the market for a clutch for my car, not sure what I should get. Every clutch has both hero and horror stories... :/

Rob,

Incredible numbers. I never thought that was possible. Sounds like you have a real Supra killer there.

I hope you have a tranny shield and drive shaft loop.

Thats funny my car made 541rwhp 645rwtq and I dumped the clutch from 6gs spraying a 200 shot and I never had a problem with that clutch. My race weight was also 3750lbs.

nope, the 6130 is a RAM disc. 6 small pucks. The Rev-loc is made by mcleod, and it a full disc of iron friction material.

it's down right brutal

now quit hyjacking the tread

What kind of work? I'm curious what I should be checking into.

Thanks everyone for the support. I'm just glad this didn't turn into the *other* thread.

FWIW, I'm not so sure that this clutch has done that badly. It's been in there for almost 5,000 miles. HARD miles. Granted, I have yet to ever even launch the car, but it has held up for a lot of dyno pulls as well.

I'm going to talk to Dave at SPEC about it soon and see if he can come up with something for us. I really like the street manners of the Stage 3-I...it's literally just like stock. And at this point, I'm not ready to give up my streetability. I'll let you all know what I find out.

Thanks again.

What kind of disc was it, I had one of the original kevlar ones that they discontined....

I'm sure you had a carbon one?

Nice.

Will from Dynojet (www.dynojet.com) said to make sure the tires are warmed up and at proper inflation, cold tires can spin the dyno, and to also check the knurling on the roller to see if it's worn smooth from debris.

ET Streets, we tried everything from 15lbs to 25lbs. Tires were DEFINITELY "warmed up". They had rubber gumballs on them and smoke. And the knurling was cleaned immediately after we took the car off the dyno last week.
We even tried positioning the car on both sides of the roller. It did best placing it on the backside, FWIW.

Anymore ideas? I'm all ears...well....and *****.

Open the hatch and sit on the gastank with your feet in the t-top well. As many bodies as will fit.

Does the car still have stock headbolts?

Do the 98 style heads have more perimeter bolts?

You would have to have some ***** to be anywhere near the car when it dyno's!! It is crazy......

Oh yeah to that poor little engine. I can't wait until we go to the event and run the car. I really just want to get back and see how much that engine can take before it goes

I'm running a SPEC Stage 4, and it appears to clamp ok with a h/c/n20 setup.. Very streetable once you abuse it on the dragstrip. However, I get the feeling its truly no stronger than a Stage 3, just more aggressive in engagement.. Same pressure plate I *think* ...
