Reasons to go with aftermarket heads:
1. make similar power with less boost
2. maximize power with more boost
3. better choice for pumpgas build
4. thicker deck

Reason not to go with aftermarket heads:
1. Purchase price

I picked up a very nice set of used AFR 225s for $1,700. How much do the ported 317s cost - $1,200?

Well I can tell you that you can pick up a set of stock 317's for about 200 bucks and send them to just about any vendor here that has a CNC machine and get them to run over them for another 600 or so....hmm, 800 dollars doesn't sound bad when you can jet your light azz truck to a mid-low 10 with no problem and even do it on pump gas.Sell the heads later for 600-800 and put a grand to it and have your after markets if you want a little more power, boost or whatever.

317's can make some decent power, I've pushed mine as far as they can go, 24.5psi, time for thicker decks and better flow, but the 317's have been a great "budget" head thus far...

I was reading a thread on here in regards to a guy using what he called "pyramid rings" in addition to his 317's. From what I gathered you can run however much boost you want because with the rings you don't have to worry about blowing gaskets and such with too much boost because the ring actually cuts into the head when its bolted down. I think he was running over 1000rwhp and was having no problems. Of course the cost of the rings and getting the machine work done pretty much killed arguments of any financial savings over going with a good aftermarket casting and some good studs.

^^^ tx red whats your 60ft on that pass,
for the thread i would go with the 317s, put the money in the suspension to get it to hook, you can make a 1000hp and just sit at the line

These look nice. Anyone running the Rhs 210cc heads? Bob, your site has the price for bare heads, what's the assembled price?
Thanks
