Default How am I doing on HP?

Hey guys, I just got my G8 finished about a week ago and I tuned it on the dyno. The powerplant is a stock Gen IV L76 block, and bottom end. All the mods are in my sig. Anyways it made 601/588 on a brand new dyno jet. Is that good or am I under the curve with my set up? It was kind of all an experiment anyways.

I would wait until they break in that new dyno some more. Probably will show another 1000 Hp once it is nice and lose.

Wtf? That's weird. I guess if you use your Blackberry it leaves out your sig. I'll walk over to the P/C and make another post and yes I will get a log. Hehe another 1000 hp lol. I'm asking mainly because I heard that Dyno Jets are notorious for showing more HP than most other dyno's too some reason. Anywho I did it with a fairly small cam and 10 Lbs…

Sorry for the sarcasm. You just gave a key item, how much boost.
Also, it would be nice to see the graph

Some dynojets don't read high, I dynoed 520/500 and went 136mph at 3300#. I felt cheated

LMAO. My G8 went a best of 11.35 so far at 129. But it got traction about like this video.

If you went 129mph in a heavy **** G8 then you have to be at least 600whp on almost any dyno, that is flying for that weight!

I dunno man, there's alot of 11 second G8's that are doing it with cam and Tq converter only. They have super good aerodynamics and a near perfect weight distribution. But granted 3900 pounds is alot.

11 seconds who cares, you can get into the 11s with 115mph....129mph shows mid to low 10 second power, that points at what your hp is not the ET, the ET means you dont get traction for **** if your running 11s at 129, I have the same problem only worse. Youve got to be making alot of power to go 129!

I got bitched at for making a statement that I thought I thought I would be able to bust a high ten second with this car with drag radials in the Gen IV help section. That has been my goal for quite some time now..... And yeah man. If you figure the 15% loss through the tranny that means I'm making roughly 700 at the flywheel. I just don have the components to handle it. Just an update though I ran it at 126 not 129. I'm having trouble uploading my scan of the graph for the dyno run though so I'll try again tomorrow. But on my 11:8:1 average AFR it made 601 at 6200 and 588 at 4400. The cam is a big jump over stock from which with just a Maggie and 2.8 and a good tune made 520 RWHP and 530 Tq, the heads though made a big difference too. I worked them over pretty harshly. I also ported my own throttle body.

Still though 126 is mid 10s with a perfect run, it takes a fair amount of hp to get a 4000# car to go 126, 600whp sounds about right. But dyno numbers are kind of bullshit anyway since they vary so much, that 126mph number is what you need to be happy with, thats really good in a heavy car like that!

Thanks Hank. I'm proud of it too. Now I guess it's time for a little more streetable tune. Why do I keep getting the error that my file type is too large when uploading this graph?
