Default Tial 50mm Vs. Tial "Q" 50mm bov?

Hey guys, I ordered a standard Tial 50mm BOV and was accidentally shipped a Tial "Q" 50mm. Does anyone have experience with these? They are both a 50mm but im not sure which is better? Im not sure if i should go through the hassle of returning this or just keeping it. Here is a link to the "Q":

hmmm, they also sent me the wrong spring, so ill have to at least swap that out. I have to say, the "Q" looks much cooler, but i hear that it sounds funny? Anyone ever heard one on a LS1?

Sounds the same as a normal one. The sound will change with more boost. What spring did they send you? I had to actually cut my 9lbs spring because it was too stiff. You want to make sure that theres enough spring pressure to fully open the BOV at idle.(if the spring is too stiff the valve will be lazy and youll get a fluttering sound--which isnt good for the turbo) It should make one solid sound when it opens.

I don't even know if they make the old style anymore. The Q is, as mentioned, suppose to be a better design.

about the fluttering sound, the only time i get it almost sounds like a duck call is coming out of the burn out box, driving around and getting into boost its fine, ill see if i can find a vid of the noise

I had one of these with my YSi years ago, the Q is FAR superior, flows almost twice as much air actually. They dont even make the regular 50 anymore. No funny sound either, just set it up right

When you are on and off lightly it will do that.. But if you do a solid pull and let off it should be a solid sound.

yeah they sent me an 11lb (20-21" of vacuum) spring which is too stiff, but i just drove the car and it opens great when im driving it hard, it does flutter slightly when i shift after 25% throttle.

my engine makes 15" vacuum, so I need their 8lb spring. this should get me by until I get a new one shipped. Unless any of you have a spare spring youd be willing to sell?

You mean it should always be open while idling? I dont think thats true, otherwise you would be getting unfiltered air into the engine. im pretty sure it should be closed while idling.

Just realized Tial doesnt have a phone number to call. Anyone know where I can order a White (8lb) spring for a Tial Q?

as previously stated, the newer "Q" flows some 20 or some odd **** more % air over the OG tial 50mm BOV. Which is alright, but what chaps my *** is that the newer Q in the color red does NOT match their current 60mm waste gate in red. Sounds rediculous i know, but when you're trying to have a semi legit engine bay scheme going on, two different color reds from the same company agravates me...

with that being said, i have been trying to track down an older tial 50mm BOV just to match my 60mm WG.

-end rant-

The Q valve flows 20% more indeed.
