So, im in the middle of my motor build and wanted to know of a good engine bearing kit to buy..... What is the best bearing for a 6.0 that will be boosted to about 16#.... Im using the stock crank and upgraded everything else btw.

Default bearings

Federal Mogul 152M main bearings (3/4 groove for better oiling), Clevites don't have this, and 8-7100CH rod bearings with factory LS9 head gaskets, add a 'C' to the front of the rod bearing for coated.

The LS9 gaskets are 7 layer where as the 6.0 are 5 layer I believe.

So there are 7 thinner slices instead of 5? hmm. Doesn't really seem like that big of a deal on which one to go with. Im just going to stick with my 6.0 MLSs.

I'm sure there is a difference, or else GM would not have gone through all the trouble and expense of creating an all new gasket. The LS9 was engineered for boost applications, and the standard 6.2L was not.

HAving said that though, when I was building my engine, the LS9 gaskets were on national backorder, so I just proceeded with the 5 layer MLS gaskets and I've not had any problems with them so far.

Exactly there is a difference GM engineered the gaskets for FI...

I have the LS9 gaskets for my car as I am upgrading to the good ARP studs as I make the jump to a F1R so I took the opportunity to install the LS9 gaskets.

I've seen multiple people running 20-22lbs of boost or more with no head gasket issues utilizing the LS9's and ARP studs. It seems to be the new "go to" setup for a street car.

You can do a search for LS3/9 headgaskets on here and find all the info as to what will work with the various combinations. I am using the LS9 gasket on my 4.030 bore motor and had the LS3 gaskets before I was procharged.

Not if you are still on factory 346 short block.... [referring to ls9arp setup]

Seems like many are running coated...
How does the coating on the bearings help?
Is it to protect for longevity or for keeping temps down?
I couldn't see a coating making them "stronger" so I was curious.
