98 block and forced induction ok at 3.905??
I have been reading some posts on the older ls1 blocks being weaker. Pretty sure that the 98 block falls into this group. Just wondering of max bore for forced induction since the posts that I have been reading are for NA engines.
Any of you are running this block with boost or nitrous? What compression would you run with a 100% methanol setup?
Also, what does pinning the crank mean?
Thanks in advance, maceydog.

The '97-98 blocks have weaker oiling systems than the '99+ blocks in addition to thinner sleeves. If you are going to invest $3K+ into a forged shortblock why not start with an LS2 block instead. They have even thicker sleeves than the '99-04 LS1 blocks and the 4.0" bore opens up more options for larger valves that won't be shrouded as much....

I went 3.903 on a 98 block, works fine. Meth? maybe 12 to 1, I would like to see the results.
Pinning the crank is when they put a dowel pin on the main caps, one on each side of the crank to hold the caps in place OR they also use the same term for pinning the front pulley to the crank for supercharger applications.
