Question?
I have a heads and cam engine. The heads are PRC 799 stage 2.5 and have approximately 11:1 compression. My cam is 224/230 0.585/0.585 114. I think I may have trouble registering this cam in California.
Ruling out access to a special smog shop. If I want to guarantee passing smog I will probably need to change the cam. But I'm addicted to the performance that the cam gives me. I was thinking since S/Cs have CARB EO# I could put a smog friendly cam in and install a supercharger. Now I have power and legitimacy, right?
I would assume I would also need to reduce the compression, at least to stock LS6. Is there something I can do with the heads, like thicker gaskets (bad idea with boost, am I )? I still have the stock 241 heads and camshaft. Would it be better to take put those back on over the stage 2.5 799s?
So, can I add a supercharger with my current setup. Then what will I have to do in order to install a supercharger?
Thanks for the help.

The above ProCharger complete system is 50 state certified. I'd add the larger intercoolers option and the 8 rib option. I'd swap out the camshaft, leave the compression ratio where it is, don't mess with thicker head gaskets, and add methanol injection with 100% methanol if methanol is allowed at the smog station. Lingenfelter's GT2-3 camshaft should easily pass. Bob

Sorry to hi jack your thread but will the procharger setup work finw with that amount of compression as long as you run the methanol setup at the same time?

Yes it will, stock LS2's aren't running much less compression. Bob

Talked to bob recently and told me the same thing with my 11.2 CR. However i'm more than willing to sell my milled 62cc TFS 235 heads for a 72cc head and a thicker gasket to be a bit safer. Then 1 day when the motor needs to be freshened up, i can always build it around boost then and make a lot more power! Bob knows his shiznit!!
