Lq4 Turbo questions? Which one?

Lq4 Turbo questions? Which one? Ok guys, I'm sourcing out the parts to start my turbo kit build, and have a few questions. Been in the import scene for a long time but new to the v8 scene. On a bit of a budget so dont want to go overboard. Also looking for something with a quicker spooling. Going to be a used for road racing.
Have an all stock LQ4 with 40k miles on it, Been looking at Garrett gt4088, 82mm 50trim .94 a/r, or something along those lines.
1. Question is will this be possible to get around 500+hp? Can I go with something smaller?
2. And last My car came with truck headers but one has the air pipe, is it possible to block it off and use the headers or do I need to get one without the air pipe connections?
