Possible blown head gasket????

Since the electrode on #5 was closed completely, you'll likely find a piece of #5's piston ring land sitting on top of that piston when you pull the heads. Since you didn't drive it much after it happened, the bottom of the cylinder head should not be too damaged. These piston pieces can get themselves wedged between the piston and the block when the engine is running, and can cause the block to get a hairline crack in that cylinder bore. It is rare but I've seen it happen two or three times back at the old shop. Bob

I'ved never been a fan of pot luck I mean pump gas. When I started modding my car I always ran some race fuel mixed with the pump gas. I've had my car since new 2001, I started modding it in the first six months I had it. I can tell you I have never even melted a plug. Look at times mph in sig. Some have said I'm wasting money on mixing race fuel or running race fuel on the street. I think I have saved money in the long run. I can't tell you how many threads like yours I've seen, running pump gas, 91 at that.
I'm not saying a stock short block should last forever, but detonation is a KILLER!
Good luck on your new build!
