Default header fastener question

What is everyone using that's effective? When I took my motor out, I found several bolts that backed out and exhaust leaks out the ***, therefore loosing boost.

I'm probably going to get some arp studs.

I was thinking about those, but I don't know how well that would work with clearance. Or are you able to install them one at a time?

I generally haven't had a problem with the header bolts backing out if stock steel head gaskets are used. It's always a good idea to check the bolt tightness after the first 100 miles of use. Bob

Check Percys split lock header bolts, almost half the price of arp studs.

I bet, i curse the damn manifolds hanging over the side of the car trying to get the bolts started.

Always thought it would be nice to have studs to just drop the headers onto. that would make life pretty damn easy, IMHO

Yep exactly, no fighting the gaskets or worrying about stripping threads either

I bought a set of stainless header studs off eBay. I've had my exhaust manifolds on and off about a dozen times, and they're been okay.

for those with the studs, is there enough clearance to have all the studs installed or do you have to do them one at a time?
