Default 5.3+s480

i came across a 5.3 and was wondering how it would spool up my turbo? i plan on going with a custom cam that should help. turbo kit will be a truck manifold kit and only have 60lb injectors at the moment. the 5.3 had 243 heads on it and it came out of a suv that was untouched? any HELPFUL info will be great!

an s480 Imo looks a little large for that combo, the a/r ratio is a little steep, would most likely have some turbo lag to it. Not to say that it cant be done. depending on the weight of the vehicle and certain other factors it might work for what you want it for. 60# injectors would probably suffice on single digit boost numbers, any more and youd be too small. aftermarket turbos are pretty cheap, ebays are like 300 bucks and people seem to love them. wouldnt break the bank to pick one up if you had to.

It would be a little sluggish but you could help it out a lot by upping the compression a tad, running E85 (more exhaust volume) and getting a good tune.

Or instead of a cam. Buy a quick spool valve first. That would really help spool up on a front mount

Well what is the a/r on your turbo?

I would look into a quick spool before trying to increase cr...just my opinion.

i cant remember the ar size at the moment. either 1.10 or 1.25, also has race cover that is supposed to help with spool time. who is selling the quick spool valves now?
