Is anyone using this turbo and have you had luck what kind of power did you make?

 

What kind of power are you looking to make? Which model (a/r, housing, wheel. Etc) are you referring to?

 

76mm limited rules for the nmca real street class

don't know need to make as much power as possible ett wheel, 1.32 A/R, t6 flange

going to 329 cu in lsx 6.0l block 4.8 crank 6.300 rod 11.5 to 1 compression 799 casting heads for know, then afrs or all pros

 

Are you trying to spray with that cr?

Mike Fateana's 76mm turbo car is like 12.5 to 1
To my knowledge he has gone the fastest with a 76mm he went 8.56 and 3400lbs with a 358 sbc, .550 lift cam and a hydrolic roller

 

I see...well what kind of weight break are you gettting with that cid? Is it a high rev motor?

 

no weight break and yes will be turning 7500-8000 rpm

just what to see if anyone is use the s400 series turbo's with any luck i know that they are not priced to bad might be a great turbo to start with and upgrade after car is up going

There is a guy on the turbo forums website who ran 5.45 in the 1/8th in a fox body mustang with this out of the box S400 76mm turbo, T6 1.32 AR exhaust housing on a 351W with AFR 205 heads and a blow through carb with a powerglide (See project pumpkinhead). Motor had a medium lift hydraulic roller cam and the fox body mustang was about 3200lbs with a air to air intercooler on race gas. But it shows you how much power these turbos can make on 351 cubes. He ran mid 5's in the 1/8th on 15lbs of boost that was fully spooled by 3500 RPM. LS 317 heads probably flow as well as the small block ford AFR 205's. And with your larger engine it should spool a bit faster and be a great turbo capable of plenty of power. This is a turbo made by borg warner to go on diesel truck semi's and last well over a hundred thousand miles. Has a very low failure rate. I plan on using it on my LQ4 with cam and intake in my 74 street/strip camaro I am building. Not bad for a 600.00 american made turbo eh?

Not sure what a race cover is. Does that cover the exhaust housing on the turbo to keep the heat in? I dont think he had that. Cant remember if the exhaust tubing to the turbo was wrapped. You can go to the turbo forums website and search for project pumpkinhead and the entire build will pop with results including multiple 1/8th mile mid 5's strip runs. Right off the trailer with the car just built, he ran 5.85 1st run on 14lbs of boost.

What kind of fuel are you guy's running with all this compression?

The ford AFR 205cc heads flow ~50+ cfm better than stock 317's.

 

I am piecing together something like your engine and still struggling with the choices of SC or turbo. This class looks like a bunch of fun trying to figure out something that will run well. Good luck with your project and let us know how that turbo works out.

Its a very good turbo to start with imo...I had a s400 76mm (non race cover) that ran 9-teens on ~19lbs in a 347 fox stang (previous owner). One thing I like most about the BW turbos is their ability to be upgraded as your power demands increase.

Whats the difference in price between the 75mm and 76mm S400?

 

I have a friend with this turbo on his full weight Camaro. He went 6.20s in the 1/8 not even dialing in the suspension or anything. I believe he made 670 through a T400 and Dana 60.
