catch can to close?

Default catch can to close?

i just installed a catch can on my procharged 99 camaro i mounted the catch can near the block using some aluminum stock where the egr systom used to be i was just wondering if the can will heat up to much to allow the oil to cool and collect in the can what is your thoughts guys

I have seen some mounted on the passenger side cylinder head near the throttle body, I guess if that works you should be fine. Although as you stated, the further away will allow the oil to cool so it can be collected better in the can.

You aren't going to make enough heat to cook the oil unless it's touching a hot pipe or the exhaust housing. Your catch can shouldn't catch much oil anyway. Mine is usually 90% water and 10% oil.

I've noticed this in my breather can, too. Could you explain why it catches so much water and very little oil?

Is it just condensation?

Yes. If you are catching lots of oil, you either have too much blow by or your setup isn't properly baffled.

Thats kind of what I figured. Thanks for the explanation. I guess thats good news that my 3 year old motor is still holding up pretty well.

Well I definitely need the catch can because I had to remove the stock baffles from the valve covers.
