Default Stock Head Gaskets Question

I have basically a cam only engine with a rod bolts, springs and pushrods. I was running a t-76 turbo at 13-14lbs and i am now switching to a bigger turbo. My question is what hp will the stock head bolts and stock head gaskets hold til. I have never had the heads off. The car went 9.93 at elevation and i will be taking it to houston in march. I know the bottom end is limiting me but i would like to know how much the head bolts/gaskets are limiting me. The car made around 600 with the t-76 turbo.

I would worry more about stock bottem end than head bolts and gaskets.

Get a built bottom end with ARP head bolts and MLS head gaskets.

I agree, the stock pistons normally give up before the head gaskets. Bob

you are gonna need head studs and ls9 gaskets at minimum. I think on that lower end ~700 is suicide especially on long texas highway pulls

Honestly i will be happy if the bottom end last through tx2k11. But i just didn't want to go out there and blow a head gasket and it put me down for the weekend. Thats a long trip.

my stock 5.3L w/ 317's reused head bolts and stock replacement one piece gaskets ran for 3 years with 15psi + 50hp shot of N2O made 640whp though a crappy streetfighter converter... Would still be running if it didnt spin a bearing.

good insurance for little investment.

To add to it, make sure your crankcase evac system is working well, there are a few purpose built catch cans out there that will pull vacuum on the motor both in and out of boost, I think mine was $130 and its got built in baffels and check valves. pushing that kind of power through a stock bottom could cause a LOT of blowby and getting it vented can be crucial.

I have added -10an lines to my valve covers with baffles to a vented catch can.
