Default Hi-flo turbo kit

I recently picked up an old hi-flo turbo kit for the TA. Did any of you guys run one of these back in the day? If so, what do I need to look out for?

I had one. The plugs are a nightmare, the downpipe and wastegate dump tube fit horrible, and we had a lot of leaking welds that we had to fix.

I had one on my red '98 z28, same issues. I got my mine used from TURBOLS1SS on here, and he coached me thru a lot of it, and he'd already fixed the welds. The plugs are a PIA esp on the pass. side, gotta remove the downpipe on the pass. side to access them. Other install mods are having to modify the area around the battery to accomodate the cold air intake ducting, have to loosen the steering rack/move it over slightly to get the driver header/crossover mated up, and you have to trim the under side of the urethane nose if you mount the FMIC horizontally under the bumper support. All in all its a decent kit minus the pass side plug access. TURBOLS1SS made 750/750 thru a 6 speed/12 bolt with a 6L motor with AFR 225s and a 226ish duration cam and 15psi of boost. His install pics and help were very beneficial to the build on my car.

I was going to build my own this year but after pricing out the cost of shipping steel and aluminum tubing, an intercooler and some other ****. It just wasnt cost effective enough for me to do it myself.

Good thing im not afraid to cut **** up on the car. lol. The coldside is not actually from the original hi-flo kit so it isnt mounted horizontally on the kit I am getting. My bumper cover is already cut up from last years turbo project anyway. :p

Thanks for everyone's insight

I just built a setup with a stock pass manifold, and a flipped truck manifold.

Perfect plug clearance. AC. etc.

Something to consider.

no alternator remains in stock location.. I'm still running the kit with no issues. All the descriptions above are accurate.

No worries. I didn't mean to run off 4000 miles with it in the first place.
