Default procharger/ Head Help?????

Alright guys i got a full dsc1 8 rib dual 4.5 intercooler kit for my Z. although its stock bottom end. I was looking into 317 heads for mine. Is Cnc' needed on them heads to make good power????? I just wanna get into the mid 5's!!
I will invest in a alky kit as the spring comes. but just want to know your guys opinion on whether or not them 317 heads flow good as they are or def. need to be reworked to get me to the 5 range!!! any sugestions??

The 317 heads are not going to give you more power unless you get them cnc'd. You would actually lose power with stock 317 heads do to the loss in compression. You might want to consider leaving the heads alone and adding a performance camshaft, as you'll get more power from a camshaft upgrade. Bob

Also dont i want to drop compression to run higher boost levels off the procharger or do i got this all wrong?? My plan is to run 8 psi till i get the alky system and start finding a 6.0 block and forging it all. Also i do have a bigger pump and 60 pound injectors big red race valve. also will be going ls6 intake with ported tb soon. to give you a idea what im working with.

Awesome! That's what I wanted to hear! I just don't wanna invest a lot of money into these heads but maybe I'll just do dual spring kit on them.

As far as compression, most recommend 9.5 to 10.0. This gives you decent bottom end torque until the blower takes over.

I made 533whp on a very conservative tune with a P1 headunit. I would look into the brute speed blower cam. Sounds nasty and makes good power!

I'd leave the heads, run meth and a good cam.

Thanks, here is a link to it. I'll bet you'll pick up 60 or so rwhp with this camshaft. Bob

It was around 10psi with the 317 heads and methanol. 10psi and 17 or 18*. I have the 317's If your interested but honestly I'd run the stock heads if your only looking to run 10psi or less. The larger CC heads just help against detonation. She ran like a champ...I miss driving her lol
