Default head gasket designs

Always lots of questions as to which head gasket. And the usual GM MLS etc apply. Given cost and how effective they are, it makes perfect sense.

But from a technical standpoint. Which is better if any, and why ?

Cometic, GM, other ? 3 layer, 5 layer ?

Ive some TFS packaged gaskets here too, which I think are just 3 layer Cometics.

GM 3 layers made in Germany and 5 layer GM made in Canada.

The GM gaskets also have a slight coating, I assume this is to assist waterway sealing. So surely this is worth having over a different brand ?

For boost it looks like it's hard to beat the 7 layer LS9 gasket. I was extremely impressed with mine when they came in. $80 to my door.
