We have a car that runs 7.6's in the quarter on e98, t.t sbf in a 3400lb car We still run a air to air. E98 still does not have the same cooling affect of alcohol. So a a2w or a2a would be recommened if it was me, not saying it wont work but you gotta be able to cool all the air going past the inj. Im doing a build right now on a car. 11:1 comperssion with a f2 on e85 and 98 for mile stuff and it will have a a2w. Also e98 is much more happy with a little more compression.

OP, yes, for drag racing an air to icewater intercooler is the most efficient charge cooler.
98% of most procharged cars out there are like this, mustangs, gm's, dodge, etc. Unless you have a gear drive or reverse blower the set up is going to be like this and the t.b is mostlikely going to be to one side or another unless its a ls1 which is lower than all carb'd intakes and in the front. Once the car is moving there is enough air in the engine compartment that the header heat is not a problem.

If this is a fail what is a turbo kit in the engine compartment of a car? LOL Double fail?

I also agree that a air to air is not the best choice for a drag car as it does not see enough air to do much cooling after you heat it up with burn out and staging. Although on Korn 130-50 degree inlet temps would not scare me.

Whats really funny is I qualify and I DIDNT vote.
One thing you guys are forgetting about the A2A is a cooler like mine weighs over #40 so it acts as a big heat sink. It does not heat soak and see a temperature rise until the back half of the 1/4 in my car anyway. even then it is minimal and has cooled by the time I am back to the pits, even when running true street. My cooler has two 900hp garret cores in it. Not your typical Ebay cooler

That is also true, the type of core makes a difference.

My other build has 80's and 160's and weve already ready made 1210rwhp on e85 74% inj duty cycle. This is procharged
