Default Custom flipped manifolds build thread

Well, it's been a long road but the motor is back in the car and nearly reassembled and ready to be broken in. The original motor spun a rod bearing, bent a pushrod, and had a valve knick a piston on the #1 cylinder about 7 months ago.
Here are the specs on the motor:

-Original '98 347 LS1 block.
-9.6cc dished Diamond pistons
-Scat 6.125" I beam connecting rods with ARP 2000 rod bolts
-Stock crankshaft
-Stock mains and bolts
-2002 Z06 camshaft
-Melling oil pump
-LS2 timing chain
-241 heads
-7.400" TSP pushrods
-Stock rockers
-PAC beehive valvesprings
-ARP head bolts

Also put in a Monster Level 3 clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate. Also threw in a Tick master cylinder while I was in there. Final compression on the motor should be around 9.5:1. Going to be pushing 8-10psi daily. Motor should be set to handle around 650-700rwhp. Hoping to dyno 600 at 10-11psi.

The original plan called for a heavily modified STS kit but after looking at all the custom work required to make the kit perform only slightly worse than a front mount, I decided to go with a custom front mount turbo.

Me telling the stock master how I felt about it. Some parts of the install were a pain but overall it was pretty simple with the motor out of the car Didn't even have to remove the reservoir from the car.

New urethane mounts. They made it a BITCH to get the motor in. Took about 45 minutes of adjusting and wiggling to get the mounts to line up right.

Spray bombed the intake. Turned out pretty good! 10 coats of Krylon plastic specific paint and 5 coats of clear.

Back in we go!

Cut in the truck to get to the fuel pump. I just wanted to check the tank and gas to make sure it was okay. Had been sitting in there for 7 months after all. I will be running twin Walbros with a Hobbs switch once the turbo build starts.

Here is the kit being built. It is sort of a hybrid between a KYTP kit and the old hi-flo turbo kits. The turbo sits where the battery is currently located. Need to relocate the battery and run an aftermarket overflow tank.

This will keep the front sway bar, leave the radiator and fans in the stock position, and keep the alternator where it is. The AC was already gone so the only other mod that needs to be done to get this to fit to relocate the battery and overflow.

New bumper? Yes please

So here's the list for the turbo kit and accessories I'll need:

-76mm turbo (Either Master Power or O3P)
-44mm Tial wastegate
-Manual boost controller
-Greddy BOV
-Godspeed intercooler
-Twin Walbro 255s with boost activated Hobbs switch
-60lb HI injectors
-AEM wideband O2 gauge
-Prosport boost and fuel pressure gauges
-PCV system delete, going with a vented catch can and vented oil cap.

Feel free to chime in with any comments, questions, or suggestions. Everything is appreciated!

It is stock. I imagine it will hold together much longer than the 10 bolt will. After it dies, on to Tick for an upgrade!

When the oil pan was pulled off we noticed that the bottom part of the dipstick past the o-ring was broken off inside of the pan. So I picked up a new Lokar dipstick (very nice looking piece).
Also ordered a new shift detent for my tranny. When it was pulled, we noticed an unplugged hole near the breather tube. From looking around, it seems like a LOT of people are missing this piece. There was some old adhesive around the hole so I'm assuming that whatever was used to plug the hole fell out. Curious to see between the Tick master, new clutch, and the shift detent how differently the car shifts.

Decided I wasn't going to wait around for my rockers to bite the dust so I picked up the Comp Cams rocker upgrade kit from TSP. These looks like VERY solid pieces and the price is right.
Looks like I also need to pick up some 7.450" pushrods for my new cam. The guy who ground it said that is what is recommended for using this cam with an otherwise stock setup. I don't believe my motor configuration will change the pushrod size needs but I will probably have to go ahead and pick up a pushrod length checker just in case. Has anyone run an LS6 Z06 cam with a motor build similar to mine? What pushrods did you need?

Ha yeah got more done today. Everything is done underneath the car just have to get the top end stuff done.
Going to break it in for about 3 months and then this winter it'll be turbo time!!!

Ha yeah I used an air chisel. Just wanted to get in quickly to inspect the inside of the tank and pump the gas out. I'm going to clean it up with the grinder before I put it all back together.

Ha you'll have to talk to my builder
He also did some custom work on them so I wouldn't have to relocate the alternator
