Default Turbo 5.3 in an RX7 project idea need some advice.

Hey I've got an 87 Mazda RX7 I'm building. I'm wanting to build a turbo 5.3L. I've got the LM7 block now. I'm looking for 450+ HP

Here's what I know I need to do.

-Swap heads... 6.0L is what I've been told but from which vehicle will yeild best results?

-Swap Cam... I've been told LS6 but what about something newer like the LS3 cam (I'm aware of the fact I'll have to change out the front cover and such)

-Water Pump, Alternator and Power Steering will be swapped and/or removed/relocated

Is there anything LS block related i'm over looking?

I'm debating between single or twin turbo set up.
I've got a couple of small turbos that'd need rebuilt and an unused GT4082.

Can anyone give me an idea about GT4082 related to an LS engine?

Also I've got a NX intercooler spray bar kit I'll be using.

Am I on the right track or horribly misguided?

i would think you would want the "317" head castings from a 6L engine and i have heard 02-04 used z06 cams are good for boost

also check out norotors.com they have very good info there, many people are running turbo ls setups there

do you have a complete motor or shortblock..... or simply the block?

If you are building it from scratch start with a 6.0 block for the extra cubes and also larger bore so you can run a larger valve in the head.

Do you have e85 relatively easily accessible in your area?

What year RX-7?

I've got a LM7 5.3 Pullout

E85 for the win... for the most part

87 GTU

The LM7 pullout will be fine. (You don't need to swap heads if you don't want to).

ARP Rod bolts are good insurance. Mains too if you want to get real crazy.

Read through some of the budget 5.3 threads in this section, there are many that don't do a whole lot to the 5.3 and make gobs of power.

You need to run vette or fbody accessories and an Fbody pan.

LS6 Camshaft

As already stated, go to norotors dot com and read through there. Alot of your questions will be answered there.
