Check out www.coneengineering.com, they make nice collectors that are inexpensive. Stainless and mild steel.

All the parts for these headers came from Stainless Works. (Flanges, J-bends and collectors)... And they are a board sponsor. And I've use Cone collectors before and they worked are great too.

We offer a variety of collectors, including a merge style collector that has a reverse cone at the very end.

For turbo headers, we dont like to use merge spikes which the collector above have. The reason for not using merge spikes on turbo applications is because we have actually witnessed the merge spike melting off on a set of turbo headers a guy built and particles flew into the turbo destroying a very expensive turbo.

Also, in our personal experience, headers with a reverse cone/merge collector and normal formed collector like Clay used above, showed absolutely no difference in power on a turbo car. On a naturally aspirated car, the collector does come into factor and thats why all of our headers have integrated merge spiked with our formed collectors.

Good work Clay, and thanks for the pics!!

Thanks
-Anthony

Here are some mock up pics. As I said above, I'm not going with twins this time, just a big single... And this is just tacked together, but you can get an idea where I'm going with this.

Little more mock-up done. The hot side is almost finished. Just gotta weld everything up and fab the exhaust outlet. It will go out the bottom of drivers side fender.

Yes, those are SPD flex joints. They are pricey, but after I saw this thread http://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/sh...ht=flex+joints I sucked it up a got them... This car will see a lot of street use so I didn't want any issues.

Those flex connectors look nice, def get what you pay for. Couldnt even tell the difference between ur home made headers and a bought pair, great fab work. Also like the placement of those wg's, clean setup for sure.
That turbo damn near blocks the whole engine in the pic! Make sure no small children are near when you start it up..

Thanks! The pic is kinda deceiving because the car is up in the air. With the hood on the car the turbo is about 5" below the hood... You would never think that by looking at that pic.

A lot of mock up time went into locating the turbo so it would fit with all the other stuff that will need to go in there with it... The radiator was the biggest challenge. The fans needed to go inboard (draw through) not out board (pusher) I live in AZ. where the night time low temps are higher than most cities day time highs. A wimpy radiator was not gonna cut it.

More mock up pics. Got the radiator mount mocked up and everything clears with 5" of hood clearance to spare! Now I will have no problem keeping this sucker cool in the heat on AZ streets!

Got a little mock up done on the cold side. It's kinda hard to tell from this pic, but there is a drop down pan under the cowl that will have a bulk head couplers for the plumbing in and out of the intercooler. (Only one coupler is in there right now) This will allow me to separate the pipes (V-band clamps) from the car at this point. (the other points being the T/B and the turbo) It will make for a solid mounting point that will be easy to seal of the plumbing from the engine compartment. Note: The intake that you see is just for Mock up. I'll be using a Mast/Cary intake that I'll be modifying for boost using an elbow. The intercooler is mounted where the passenger seat was originally.
