Default Got my FTI Poweglide installed

Had Greg @ FTI build me a Level 4 Glide but it's in a stock case to help keep cost down. It's got a 1.80 straight cut first gear. I really expected it to feel mushy taking off, but it doesn't. It has a TH input shaft so I am using the same converter that I had in the TH350. It should make for a an interesting apples to apples comparison. Just not sure if I'll be turning it all the way up yet as I haven't done an E85 tune yet with the new Holley EFI. If I have time, I'll set it up in the next few days but not sure.

Well, it was closer to 3900. That was with the Th350 and a steel driveshaft. Between the glide and the aluminium shaft, it's dropped a few pounds. What I am most excited about is being able to leave at a higher RPM. My Th350 had me limited to about 3600 RPM from day one. I've never been able to launch any higher than that before. I'm thinking 4200 RPM and about 8 psi she should run a 1.25 or so 60'. I was running 1.28 (w/ a REAL shallow stage) to 1.32's before. That alone should be good for a tenth or so.

Definitely keep us posted how that glide does. I've got a TH400 from Greg and I'm tempted to have him build me a glide. I'm 4020lbs in my GTO with me in it. I'm sure it will be even heavier with the cage and turbo system going in even with some lightening that I'm doing.

The shorter 1st gear will help you get all that weight moving with the TH400. With the glide, you gotta come out on some good boost to get things happening at the starting line. Also note that the glide bangs real hard on the shift. Even at low RPM so make sure to consider that from a comfort stand point if you drive the car on the street alot. It's the only thing that I don't like.

A bit of a tangent here, but if you were to do it all over again, would you stick with the PT88? I'm seriously thinking it's new turbo time for me but I can't make up my mind what I'd want to go with. Part of me just wants to go to a 7675 as I know it'd be worth a decent amount over my 68mm turbine but part of me wants to go bigger. The 7675 would bolt right in as well.

I've gone as high as 136 in my 4000+ sled on this TC76. I'd like 140 at the least.

If you're going to upgrade your turbo, you may as well make it worth it. Are you looking for something that would fit in place of your tc76 without modifying the piping, or do you not mind modifying the piping?

Well I'd prefer not to change the hotside of course but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. That's why I was thinking of a Precision 7675 because it would be a direct swap and would still be a decent upgrade (75mm vs 68mm turbine). I've also been eyeing the PT88. I know it's a good deal larger but I just wanted some more opinions. Also looking for other options as well.

Jesus, not only will your car be faster but it could extend your life loosing the weight.

How much did the glide cost? i have been thinking about switching from a TH400 to a Glide.

I would go bigger if I had to do it over again. IMO a T4 exhaust housing is too small for 360+ ci. I would think that a small T6 housinged PT91 would be the sweet spot.

I think it goes for about $2250 from FTI without the SFI case. You'd have to call Greg. Mine is pretty much the PPG3.

Well, i'll tell you this, i've been looking into it and for my setup i'm picking up a GT88 budget garrett turbo from forced inductions, seems like the best bang for the buck and will get you a lot of power and everything i've read about it is positive, so i'd recommend looking into it.

I can't argue with that!!!!

You know who i've been really trying to get to let me run it though, Darrell, I think he's scared of that thing after the wheel stand and I would really like to see what it could do set on kill!!!!
