Default Quieting the Whine

I love the whining sound of my T-trim, it was what I was hoping for all along. Problem is, I now find it hard to just pull the car in/out of the garage anytime I like to such as early morning or late night. There are those one or two neighbors that love to hate. I also hate worrying about the law while I'm sitting at the lights.

I was thinking of putting a hoodliner back in the engine bay. Maybe even slapping some dynamat, then hoodliner over that for protection. Has anybody done this and noticed a quieting of the sound levels from the supercharger?

Check the noise laws. For me, I believe 120db is the limit. I also do not think a supercharger goes anywheres near that. The hell with your neighbors...

LOL, there definitely are the dudes and little kids that stop in their tracks and like what they hear and see. It's the new born baby next door and the detective cop lady across the street who I need to stress over. I'm happy with the exhaust level, hell, I love that the whine is what it is. But if I could have the opportunity to quiet it down some underhood with the lining, then detach it for the shows/events, I'll be straight. Just wanted to know if anybody has done this and found it worthwhile.

I havent found any way to quiet my SC down. A less restrictive intake section helped some, but not much

Isolate it somehow, Get some thin rubber so you have it somewhat isolated from the mounting brackets, then wrap the hell out of the entire thing with exhaust wrap.

I'm guessing the whine is coming from the straight cut gears. Would a turbo blanket help? Not sure if that's the correct name for it, but it's the heat wrap they put around turbos.

It's worth a try. I plan to get the helical gear option when I purchase my procharger this summer.

I did the same..people used to ask me if my car was broken because the F1A was so loud...of course anyone that knows what a centri sounds like knew instantly

Dude i honestly think you should do nothing..turbo blanket is going to be a waste of money and time..so is exhaust wrapping the head unit..who wants to pop the hood and see a mummy blower? not me

Sell it and go turbo and you can stealth thru the neighborhood and not **** anyone but other cars on the road off!

Maybe if the little ********* wouldn't **** their systems past my house at 11 to 12 at night while my kid is sleeping. Then I MIGHT think about not roaring past their mommy and daddys house at 5:30am on my way to work.

**** em right in the ***. I like to be as loud as I can. Only drawback of me going turbo now.

I'm lovin some of the suggestions
Ya detective lady actually swings the other way, not quite the looker, and my wife probably wouldn't approve one way or the other haha.

Turbo is a no-go for me, I could only wish.

Mine seems slightly quieter when I remove the aftercooler and charge pipes and go straight shot from intake to blower.

These are the straight cut gears. Does a heat blanket actually quiet down turbos a little?

I'm not sure if they help or not. I know the turbo guys use them to isolate the heat from other engine compartment items. What about using some sort of high temp dyno mat sound deadener on the blower itself? Just trying to make some suggestions.

Maybe you could play the music they use on the icecream truck, just have the volume a bit louder than your supercharger, so then your neighbours would think that it's just the icecream guy driving in the neighbourhood. ....just kidding! I know, I'm not very helpful.
