Default Procharger guys

Has anyone ever replaced the rubber hoses that come out of the air box with metal or something else? I was thinking of having something made so that it looks a little better. Wonder if anyone has any ideas on possitive and negatives.

Ive seen it... I dont think it looks any different. It's still pipes of some shape and form coming out of the box and going down.

You could replace the rubber hoses with silicone, but you want to make sure you use quality 4 or 5 ply silicone. You could also convert over to the front mount intercooler assembly that ProCharger recently came out with. Here is a link to it which has a lot of pictures included. http://shop.brutespeed.com/ATI-1GJ11...-1GJ115-IC.htm Bob

Because you have two intercoolers you have two pipes running up into the plenum box. It would be difficult to get rid of the plenum box when you're running the twin intercoolers. Bob

I dont want ot get rid of the plenum box, just want to have the piping that comes from that box the same material as the FMIC. It looks to be solid not rubber like what I have.

The FMIC does not have a plenum box because there is only one pipe running into the intercooler and one running out. You have two intercoolers so you have to set of pipes, which is why you have a plenum box with two pipes going into it, then one going to the maf. You could replace some of your tubing and rubber with aluminum, and use silicone in between. Bob

Bob already stated what to use.

Im thinkint it would be a PITA to get the silicone hoses to bend in the manner the rubber hoses are bent to do the replacement..

You really think it looks that bad??

The tubing used with the front mount is made out of steel. if you have the polished aluminum plenum box you could probably have someone make bend up some aluminum tubing and have it tig welded to your plenum box, but it would be fairly expensive. Bob

Thank you, that is what I was looking for. My two rubber tubes are a faded black and look more gray than black. I would like to get them steel if I could but will settle for aluminum. Thank you all for your help.

Hey there's a pic of my old twin kit. :-)

It would probably be better to work with aluminum, and you would not have to deal with rust.

You could merge the inetercoolers like the LT1 procharger setup and delete the upper box. Would just have to move the piping and fuses around.

I did, made this Frankenstein setup out of stainless. Much less flex, boost comes on QUICK due to no expansion of the intercooler piping. Still uses the ATI twin intercoolers, just replaced all the rubber flex tubing up top and made a new plenum.

Running about 10psi I popped two plastic ATI plenums and popped/repaired an ATI aluminum plenum twice before doing this setup. No problems since.

Bad30th that is exactly what I want to do! What material did you use to replace the rubber hoses?

A local shop fabbed it for me a few years ago. It's 2.5" stainless steel for the charge pipes, and the plenum is made from welded cutout pieces of stainless. It polished up nice.

Thanks,
