I"ll try once I get the new turbo. I dont want the wheel to fall apart and go into the engine.
I havent been boosting lately. Only driving in vaccum to try and keep it together.

And I want to say thanx to everyone for all the input.

and if you guys actually read the thread he says he was running with no conroller and he still couldn't go more than 1/2 throttle without overboosting

The hotside is from Turbotechnologyinc. When I first decided to go turbo I searched the entire web for a kit or just hotside piping. They were and still are the only supplier of a front mount turbo setup for a B-body LT1.
By them being the supplier I just figured that they new what they were doing.
Lt1boost makes kits for the Lt1 F-bodies with the wastegate in a similar location.

How do you know your wheel is messed up? Honestly, the tolerances in the compressor housing are so tight that if the wheel was messed up in some way, it would be so obvious it slaps you in the face. It means the turbo has completely failed, and would make awful noise or smoke profusely. Either way, removal and inspection should be top priority.

Well I took the inlet to the turbo off and checked the wheel play by feel. Plus there are a few marks in the inlet from the wheel. Oh, and chirps on initial startup now. It never did that before.

I have noticed a small amount of smoke but nothing to major. I didnt see any oil or anything in the compressor side. I dont plan on boosting til I get the new turbo just to be safe.

Its no biggie. This is just a good reason to upgrade and change the setup. I have plans of changing the entire exhaust. The change wont come til after summer but I need to have this thing driveable right about now.
