Default Everyhting is welded but...

Hey guys I had a friend of mine finish up welding my turbo piping and it looks good except when you look inside. I put a camera inside and its only on a couple of the welds. Im worried the welds inside will hurt the flow what do you think? Im gonna try and smooth them out but I think it's too far down the pipes to get any kid of grinder down there. I'm gonna try with my dremel

That means that he got good penetration and the weld will hold. But do take down the high ones so you don't trash your turbo if there is a loose one or two.

If it dont we are in the same boat, mine look worse than that! All I can say is when you porting heads, you don't want the surface smooth, or the air dont flow as well.

It will be fine for flow. Just make sure nothing breaks off and goes throught the turbine. Id tap them with a hammer and chisel, if it holds, good to go.

I would try to clean up the insides of those pipes as much as possible, any pieces of metal(weld) inside the pipe that decides to heat up and fall off will end up in your turbo and wastegate. The wastgate in your picture is also In the right place but angled in the wrong way, the wastegate should be set so that the exhaust flows into the wastegate with ease. Personally i would redo the piping and wastgate position so you could have piece of mind. Ive welded for awhile now and you can get good penetration without it moving that deep into the piping. Just my 2 cents.......

I was told by numerous people that my gate wasnt in the optimal position but it should be fine. its a 50mm gate. so I guess I'll find out when its running.

its fine but just make sure it wont fall off. Your welder just got it a little to hot and penetrated it well. but as stated above you really dont want it falling off into the turbine wheel. those arent cheap. i like your set up though with the turbo at the battery loc. i plan on doing that this winter

has anyone tapped the flange on the turbo so you dont have to use a nut and bolt combo?
