e85 timing

Default e85 timing

is there anyone out there running stock internal ls motor on e85 and turbo? just trying to see what kind of total timing you are running at WOT at higher rpms around 6k. i am tuning with efi live.

I believe we arent running much more then factory timing levels all around, but under boost and WOT i believe we are running right at 17* For the moment, we've pumped stupid amounts of timing into on the last motor and wont be doing that again.

so you have a stock internal motor and running 17* at WOT higher rpms? just making sure bc im running a good bit less timing

Thats what im currently running, now yes. We have more tuning to do, and i suspect we will back it down some.

I was told to not really go past 15-16* timing upper RPM+WOT+BOOST.

so, i suspect we'll tinker with it, and not push it too hard.

stock LQ4 6.0L w/ LS6 cam and GT45 last year ran 25 degrees 15lbs of boost. Worked pretty good. No knock and made quite a bit more power over the 18 degrees i had it on 93 octane.

I'm at 16* on e85 9lbs. I'm waiting for a dyno to play with more timing.

Only add timing until you stop making power!
Trust me

With gasolines you tune until you encounter knock.
But with E85 you will encounter MBT (maximum brake torque) first, if you add timing beyond MBT or max power you will lift the head or bend a rod..... or worse.

Also Do not add timing advance until after you have hit max load then aggressive add it until red line. It will keep the stock rods alive. I normally use -1 degree or 0 degree depending at peak torque, then as the rpms raise I ramp in the timing like a champ which you will be more than able to do with E85.

It is very tempting to have timing advance at peak torque and it feels great but you WILL LOSE longevity with a stock motor.

Mines 16 degs at 13 lbs w.o.t runs like a champ! It kept making more and more powerbut I have a stock bottom end ls2 and we quit there. Made 564whp threw a stall and 9inch
