Default Considering FI..

Hey guys-

Just curious, I'm currently partially considering a small turbo setup, but I don't know if I can use my current build or if I'll have to start all over..

Current setup..

Fast Toys Ram Air
LS1 Motorsports Lid
Ported TB
LS6 Intake
PowerBond UD Pulley
TR224 112LSA Cam
Texas Speed Stage 2.5 5.3L heads
XS Stainless Long Tubes..
Off Road Y
GMMG exhaust
Vigilante 3200 stall
Stock GM 3.42 rear end (upgraded from 2.73's..)

My car will NEVER see a track.. I've had it for 10 years and it's never been down a track.. I've only put 3 sets of tires on the car.. I'm not hard on it.. I just like moving quickly.

Is there anything on the market that would add 100 - 150hp that would work with my current setup?

I'm kinda eyeing the ModularTurbo setup..

What is your current cr? That will help deturmine if Fi is right for you or maybe a small shot would be better.

With your current set-up, it sounds like you're better off going with a centrifugal supercharger, especially if you're wanting to keep your long tube headers. Look around and you might just be able to find a great deal on a used kit.

I'd actually rather have a supercharger.. They just seem, cooler.. LOL..

I don't need a turbo or a charger, but I just thought it'd be sweet.. I'm not looking to add gobs of power, my car is plenty fast for me as it is, but it'd be fun to make it a lil' quicker..

I've thought about spray but I'd never get the bottle filled.. Bought a bottle once and it just sat around and never was installed..

Honestly the best thing you can do for your car for it to be a lil' quicker in the little spurts you will be using it, N2O is your best bet.

For FI, you WILL need to upgrade your, motor(if planning on keeping CR around the same), Transmission, Fuel System and rearend to handle the power even in those spurts you want.

Just the tranny, fuel and rear end upgrades could total you 10k in just parts for the right stuff the first time.

A bottle and a plate system could be thrown on now and maximized to your current set-up, and make just as much power as you safely could with the CR you are at now.

Is E85 readily available in your area? If so you could make a modest investment in your fuel system, find a used P1 or D1 kit and run ~5psi and never have to worry about it.

I'd be willing to lose the headers, if everything else I have will work well with a turbo.. I may give you a call tomorrow. I keep hearing about these 1 hour phone calls.. LOL..

I dunno though, I'm only looking for ~75-100 more horses and don't want to start turning transmissions and rearends into grenades..
