self contained oil system?
im looking at doing custom mount rear turbo setup with some things and turbo a friend gave me, and im figuring out the oiling system now, i dont liek the idea of tapping the block and or pan for oil (one so if i take this setup up off in the future i dont have to worry about it or go another route), so was thinking of doing a self contained oil system for it, plan was to have a 2-4 qt tank in the spare wheel well area or in trunk that ran to a cooler under the car.
which would yall recommend first, pump pulling oil through fitler or pushing through filter? (pump before or after fitler both before tank?
pic this in loop and not in a stright line but
tank -----> turbo ----> cooler ----> filter or pump ---> filter or pump ----> one way check valve ----> back to tank
any input is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Yes, i just finished mine..... the system consists of two turbowerx eva pumps (one pressure, one suction), alum tank (two qts+), -6 pressure side to -4 turbo oil feeds (i have two turbos), -6 return line to keep the pump cool and regulate pressure (appropriate orfice size will regulate pressure on the pressure return side), -10 suction side..... it is kinda expensive but turned out very nice. Lots of braided line and fittings...... The temps are cool right now but in the summer months, i will probably add an oil cooler to keep them in check.
do u feel that 2 pumps are needed or could i just have it gravity feed to the turbo and then have one pull oil back up and into tank, it would be a sealed system so it would suck it all through right? and if u have any more info its very appreciated!

you need two pumps to do a self contained oiling system. You need pressure to supply oil and suction to bring the oil back up into the oil tank. I have prob put 10k miles on this system and it runs perfectly. If you have any questions, feel free to ask away.... i'll help you out in any way that i can. tracy
ok, wasnt sure if it was a preferred or needed, and thanks,
-6 return line to keep the pump cool and regulate pressure (appropriate orfice size will regulate pressure on the pressure return side)
did u use this size to slow the flow down and thats how u regulated pressure or is the orifice something else? thanks
ull probably get a few more questions here and there but i got most of it lol

ight thanks! and will do, how much PSI is required for this system/a turbo? and i know for turbo builds u dont cheap out on stuff at all but this is a semi experment that friend and i are trying to keep cheap and if it works well/i like it then in the future up grade to better turbo/intercooler/what ever, but if i need something ill deff get it, only reason i ask is i can get a diesel in line pump rated at 8-10psi from work, so thinking 2 of those, if i can but
self contained turbo hmm, ill have to look into that, i imagine there pretty pricey though?

sorry toxic but 10 psi won't be enough.... On a journal bearing turbo, i run around 50 psi oil pressure and a ball bearing turbo i have run around 30 psi. If you don't have enough oiling you will quickly kill a turbo. Look for a used turbowerx pump or buy a less expensive brand.....i don't know any other brands off hand but they are out there and prob half the price of turbowerx. Best of luck man, tracy
