I do see that this post is a little old,,,,,,,,,,,,But one question was never answered.
And I have the same question as well.
What is the safe boost level for a LS1?
I am seeing my Magnacharger running @ 9psi

I run my tvs2300 @ 10 psi and have not had any problems. Initally I had it tuned at 13.5 psi... but worried about reliability I backed it down a tic. the charger came from maggie set for 6.5 pounds, but new pullies fixed that!
as for safe boost there is a thread on here for that.. I have 4000 miles on mine @10 psi without any issues. (about 70K on the engine, stock 2000 Camaro SS ls1)

super-old, i know...
but for anybody on the fence, i ran my stock 2000 LS1 vette with a 2300 at 10psi ~30k mi with no problems. pump 93 with stock fuel system + BAP & 60# injectors. made 535h/540t.
then i added heads/cam & spun faster to maintain 10psi @ 650h/630t. still stock bottom... but now i'm running a chiller system to help the IATs & have a built fuel system.
i finally swapped on an OD balancer that makes 13psi. still good.

Pound for pound and liter to liter the Maggy kills the KB. To make more then the 2300 you will need 3+ liters of blower. Take into account the KB takes more power to turn and that rear elbow for an inlet is just a hp killer on any PD blower setup.
