What do I need for a 140+ mph car ?
When my current setup blows, I want a new setup that will do 140+ mph in the 1/4 mile. I want it to be street friendly and blow cold AC.
I know I will need a forged motor but not sure on cubic inches and whether to go with a nice blower or turbo setup. At those power levels, which one requires less maintenance and is more reliable ? Will an aluminum block be ok or is iron a must for that much power ?
Price is no issue.
I have gone 141 on 10psi with my turbo setup and will go alot faster once I turn up the boost.
and didn't you just get your HCI setup done this year and already itching for more
Wow that's pretty good on a D1. What kind of power were you making on that setup and how long did it last ?
Yes, I just got the H/C/I setup done a few weeks ago. I'm thinking towards the near future.
MikeP2002 is in near 800rwhp on his D1 Procharged 383
And yelofevr on here is making 670ish in his stock bottum end ls1 with a little p1

A turbo, IMO, is more fun and is just as reliable as supercharger if you do your due diligence.
A forged 370ci, for example, won't "require" a large turbo such as a S85 (hehehe!!) so you won't need to worry about running a large DP, crossover, WG, etc.
Just worry about the supporting parts that will keep it all together, spend the money the right way the first time and you should be just fine.
Unfortunately, turbo kits come and go around here but Kentucky Turbo seems to have it working just fine. If you want a larger bottom end they can also accomidate for a larger turbo.
GL!
I'm thinking an aluminum forged LS2 short block.

with my TFS 215 heads, FASt 92/92 and some boost.
Procharger or turbo setup in the 700rwhp range. I'm thinking my best bet would be to get a ride in a turbo LS motor and a procharged LS motor car to determine which setup I like more.

Spend the money you "saved" on the turbo/fuel/safety systems. By the time you nuke a stock block or two, you might know what you're doing and should step up to a built engine... I sure as hell wouldn't want to "learn" on a 4K+ short block.
