It is not too big for your application. How much power can your 383 handle, what are your plans with the car? A 76 or 78 will be more fun on the street, instant spool. The PT88 is a great turbo that can make north of 900 horsepower without breaking a sweat.

Get it.. you'll wish you had, later. Most of us are running smaller turbos to keep our stock shortblocks alive. I'll be going to an 88 once I put together a forged longblock

How good are the thrust bearings in those compared to ball bearings?

Good enough. If anything, I'd say that turbo is slightly undersized for the 383. Mostly on the exhaust side. I'm getting ready to upgrade my exhaust to a T6 1.00 to see if it gives me a little more up top.

I agree. I wish I would have gone with a T6 frame to start.

The Precesion 76GTS (7675CEA) is also a good option. It has a ton of power under the curve compared to the 88 and is only shy by 100 or so at peak power of booth with that power being max effort.

This x100

But go with the PT88 now and look into a T6 exhaust side. Also there are some really good 88mm turbo's out there right now from BW and FI not just precision.

If you want I can pm you the name of a really good turbo site that has lots of different options. I am thinking of ordering one of their 76mm compressor side 82-85mm turbine side T6 1.10 A.R. Real Street legal units. They say it can make 1500hp without using a billet wheel.
