Default Log Manifold Tube Sizing

Im planning to build some custom log manifolds for my LQ4/ 72mm turbo setup. I plan to run a larger turbo eventually so i would like to leave some room to grow as well. I have been doing a lot of research but im having trouble finding solid info on pipe sizing for custom log setups. My plan is to run 1.75in primaries into a 2.5in log with a 2.5in crossover.

My main question:
Is my pipe sizing to larger?

If so would 1 5/8 primaries and 2.25in log be better?

Or is it not going to make any difference?

1 5/8" with 2.25" crossover into 2.5" log would spool better and support a ton of power.

+1 you will be fine either way, the 2.25 might spool a little faster. are you going to use SS?

I had considered using stainless but i dont have a way to weld it at home. So im just going to use mild steel and get everything coated when im finished.

I would honestly think that it would depend largely on the turbo you plan to run. What sized turbo do you plan to go with eventually? T6 or T4?

Once i build a short block ill probably end up with at least a 78 but things always change is you go so i cant really say for sure.

I also havnt had much luck finding pictures of to many customs log setups either. So if you have pics post them up, it doesnt matter what car i want to see them!!

If you can weld mild steel there is absolutely no reason you cant weld stainless.

I dont really want to buy another bottle of gas for one project and the benefit of SS just isnt worth it to me

Why would you need another bottle of gas ?

It's not like you're welding anything for the space industry, and conditions need to be 200% perfect.

Ive MIG welded stainless plenty of times with the same gas I use for steel. Not sure what it's called over there, but basically argon with like 2-5% CO2 or something like that.

The shield gas might be critical if the welding needs to be super duper perfect. Lets face it, it's just an exhaust manifold !

It isnt trasnfering goods for human consumption, nor is it anything super high tech.

and attached to the OP post is a sweet looking manifold, just some ideas:

If you are going to the trouble of welding up a manifold, why not do a nice tubular style?

Well i have considered it and i suppose i could change my mind but my reasoning is a log is simpler design wise, less materials, less time, less space, and with truck manifolds being proven to XXXXHP.... well i just dont see the need.

I one reason that would make me do tubular is they look cool if done correctly, but i suppose a log can too.
