Default Budget Build questions

Recently I have been doing some looking around before I've even thought about asking anything dumb, so hopefully it has payed off.

1. My goal is to have a high 4XX Weekend driver. I know this is going to be hard to achieve..you'll see after reading the next few lines..

2. I have around a $3,000-$3,500 budget (after a cam/ head swap)..I would prefer to go supercharger, mainly because I understand S/C's a lot better than I do turbo's and I do not have to worry about Lag. I have read that an S/C car isn't as good for a car that see's a lot of miles, but I also have heard that it is better, hopefully some people who have owned both can chime in.

3. I have been looking at P1SC's and D1SC's but haven't found anything "kit" wise that really intrigues me. I have seen on the Procharger website the, offering a "C2" S/C that is right around what I'm looking for, the site says it is ideal for 325-365 (IIRC) cars looking to add 35%-45% more power.

4. I know a lot of the issue comes with the tune, but I have a trusted tuner that I take my car to, that I will be talking to soon to see what he thinks. My motor has 77K on it right now. I know that is getting risky in most people's eyes but I haven't ran it "too" hard and the previous owner was an older guy who used it as a car to use outside the work commute.

I know I have missed a few things and sorry for any repeat questions that are seen over and over again, I'm just trying to gather as much info as possible.

Talk to Bob at Brutespeed, get a D1SC and a good tune with it set up for 8lbs and don't look back you will be happy with it...for a while until the need for more hits you but you will have a HU that can supply more when the time comes.

If 4xx is all you want, you can achieve that with a good heads/cam/intake setup, and you will have it all the time, no need for FI, IMHO. It would be more hassles than your budget can afford.

What motor is it, and is that high 400's at the wheels or crank? Like Westtexasbuff said, heads, cam, and intake can possibly get you there. If you are worried about the mileage, you can build a stroker motor, and get some extra hp and trq.

Your going to do a heads/ cam then a blower. Leaving you $3500? If your set on going with a blower don't waste your money with the H/C. All you need is a D1 with 8lbs and your good to go with 500ish rwhp. Your motor will be fine.

It is high 400's at the wheels, It will be seeing the strip so I'm working on a separate fund for a 9" rear, it is a 2001 LS1.

Sluggish- Wouldn't it be more beneficial to do the swap first to lower my compression a bit without worrying about too much boost?

if your only looking for 450+rwhp.... get a set of headers and a free flowing exhaust. and mount up the procharger with 8-9#'s.... dont worry about ur CR...prochargers work extremely well with higher compression engines believe it or not...in fact....from what ive read... 9.5:1 seems to be ideal. dont quote me on that though. my D1SC is going on in a few weeks, and i have 111k on the clock. Im putting it on and not looking back. Its all in your tune man. dont throw alot of timing at it and keep the AFR on the fat side and youll be fine. Dont be surprised if you make ~500rwhp... u may wanna save for a clutch too, ur stock one isnt gonna like almost 600horse at the motor....

Also, your gonna need a new fuel pump and some injectors, alot of guys are running the Siemens mototron 60#ers, including myself, look in the classifieds, i just picked up a set with <3,000 miles for $250.
